Updates when Corte opens

Each time you open Corte, it checks for an update while its opening screen plays. Most of the time there’s nothing new, and Corte opens straight away with no message.

  • Checking for updates: the check is taking a moment, usually on a slow connection. A single mark steps round the dial while it waits. Corte doesn’t wait more than a few seconds before opening.
  • Downloading update: there is a newer version of the app. Below it you see how much has downloaded and the date the update was published, for example “62% · published Oct 4”. The dial fills as the download goes.
  • Update ready and Restarting Corte: the update downloaded. Corte restarts once on its own and opens on the new version.
  • Couldn’t download the update: the download failed or took too long. Corte opens on the version you already have, which the message names, and tries again the next time you open it.

You don’t need to do anything in any of these cases. Your data isn’t touched by an update: it stays on your account.

If Reduce Motion is on in your device’s accessibility settings, the dial doesn’t turn. The same messages show.

Can I skip an update? No. Corte installs updates when it opens so everyone runs the version that matches the service. Bigger changes still come through the App Store or Google Play.

Why did Corte take longer to open? It was downloading an update. Next time it opens at the usual speed.
